Journal of Wetlands’ Environment Management (JWEM) is a journal managed by the Center for Journal Manament and Publication of Lambung Mangkurat University. We are publishing articles on all aspects of wetland management, i.e. lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, social, economics, education, etc., in collaboration with The Indonesian Peat Association, issued twice a year on April and October. JWEM is available in hard copy, as well as the electronic form which is available at below address:


JWEM Originality

It is JWEM editorial policy to welcome submission of original manuscripts and it is not under consideration for any other publication at the same time, under the same format, either in English or any other language, without the written consent of the publisher, except as an abstract or as the part of lecturing materials or academic theses. JWEM’s accepted article will not be published elsewhere either. All authors should be aware of the importance of presenting content that is based on their own research and by their own word.  


Manuscript Requirements

Type of Papers

JWEM publishes three types of article, they are: research article, short communication, and article reviews. Research article is a report of the original research results. The short communications will accommodate the urgent research finding which intersects among science and society that holds policy implications. Article review presents other researchers interesting science topics for discussion.


Paper’s Editorial

Research article. Abstract, titles for tables and figures, footnotes, figure legends, and references should be double - spaced on paper sized A4s with 2 cm of margin, typed font is by Times New Roman style size 12. Each figures and tables must be placed at the end of the manuscripts in separate sheets. Numbering all pages is a must, including the separate sheets for figures and tables. Maximum words for research article is ~ 5,000 words; with the maximum pages of ~ 15 pages. Short communication. The maximum words for short communication is ~ 4,000 words or ~12 total pages maximum including figures and tables. Research paper and short communication must provide certain heading as: Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Reference.  Article Reviews. It must be provided with sub headings with relevant title for the certain contexts being reviewed. The maximum words for is ~4,000 words or ~12 total pages maximum including figures and tables if available. Submitted article must be written in English on the proper manner for relevant research purposes concisely. Proofread by first language person is strongly advised.


Article’s Format

Title. The title consists of article’s title, include the author’s name(s) below, followed by  each author’s institution and address include the footnote containing the address for correspondence, imprinted telephone and fax numbers as well as e - mail address.


Abstract. The maximum amount of words is 250 words, with line spacing in 1. Research abstract consist of the research aims, research method, and results. It represents a brief summary of the article without elaboration in every section. Avoid using any abbreviation, unless it is a common knowledge or has been previously stated. Key words consisting of three to five words/ phrases in parentheses, listed by its importance and placed below the abstract.


Introduction. This section must provide a sufficient research background by identify the causes to formalize the research question to be answer. It helps readers to figure out and evaluate the results without having to read previous related topics publications, and then empower relevant references for discussion and analysis. This part consists of the research background and research’s objective(s).


Research Method. This section contains with sufficient technical information for analysis that enable others to redo the experiments or utilize it as references on the future research. If there are commonly - used modified techniques, the authors must explain the technique briefly if the method is new.


Results. This section only contains research results – the answer of research and do not state references that should be presented in the form of body text, tables, or figures. Don’t use too many graphs if it can be explained briefly in the main text. Limit the use of photograph; present only the ones that clearly represent the results. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively. Every figure and table showed must be cited on the text. The graphs can be prepared on tracing paper using black ink, or in the computer which later can be printed using laser or inkjet printer. Half - postcard - sized, black and white photographs should be provided as glossy prints. Authors will be charged extra printing fee if photographs are preferred.


Discussion. Discussion section contains of results interpretation related to previous reported results. Restating the methods, results, and other information in the introduction must be avoided.


Acknowledgment(s). This section can be used to acknowledge financial support received in funding the research and to appreciate the institutions or persons for their assistance in the research or in the writing process of the manuscript.


Attributions. References to other publications must be arranged in alphabetical order using Harvard (Author - Date Referencing Guide) and please carefully checked for completeness, accuracy, and consistency. It is strongly recommended to use primary references only.  JWEM allows maximum 10% book references from the total cited references in the manuscript. Empowering available referencing software which is equivalent to Harvard Referencing Format, such as Zotero – the free easy to use Firefox extension with good online support ( is suggested. Please notice that If you use a software product, you must still use the same citation style as shown in this Worldview Harvard Referencing Guide.

Manuscripts for publication by JWEM should be written in English and under required format. The editor will not accept the manuscript that is deficient in these respects. Accepted manuscript by the editor is only in soft copy prepared in Microsoft Office Word (*.doc or *.docx extension file). Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: IDR 1,000,000 per article

Lay-out fee: IDR 350,000 per article

Proof reading/translation fee: IDR 100 per word (optional)

Article Publication for Non Indonesian is IDR 250,000 per page, and for Indonesian contributor it is IDR100.000,-per page. For both types of contributor, the charge for printed version is IDR 100,000 per book with minimum order of 10 books.

If the foreign contributors do not have funds to pay such fees, they will have an opportunity to waive each fee. The priority is given to foreign contributors in order to pulfill the requirement of minimum one foriegn contributor in each edition.

This journal uses Open Journal Systems, which is open source journal management and publishing software developed, supported, and freely distributed by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

Copyright Notice

The copyright of the received article shall be assigned to the journal as the publisher of the journal. The intended copyright includes the right to publish the article in various forms (including reprints). The journal maintains the publishing rights to the published articles.

Authors are permitted to disseminate published articles by sharing the link/DOI of the article at the journal. Authors are allowed to use their articles for any legal purposes deemed necessary without written permission from the journal with an acknowledgment of initial publication to this journal.

For Non Indonesian contributor the charge is IDR250.000,-per page, and for Indonesian contributor it is IDR100.000,-per page. For both types of contributor, the charge is IDR500.000,-per page for black and white photo(s), and IDR600.000,-per page for colored photo(s).

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
